The Garmin GPS 72 provides WAAS-enabled position information in a compact, waterproof package. The lightweight GPS 72 features a large (1.6″ by 2.2″), sharp, 4-level grayscale display for easy reading. The efficient unit gives 16 hours of use on two AA batteries and has audible alerts for anchor drag, arrival, course deviation, proximity waypoints and more. The 72 uses an internal 12-channel antenna and has an internal database of U.S. tide data, worldwide nautical navigational aids and maps of major worldwide cities. The unit also can store 500 waypoints and has one megabyte of internal memory to store data from Garmin’s Mapsource Points of Interest CD-ROM. The GPS 72 has a suggested retail price of $170.65.
