Vosseler made quite a stir with its innovative, portable machined-aluminum fly-tying vise. Now this German manufacturer of high-end fly-fishing equipment jumps into the saltwater market with its new S-series of fly reels.

The S-series offers high quality at an affordable price. Machined from seawater-resistant, anodized aluminum, the reel possesses all the must-have features in today’s competitive market. The large-arbor spool easily swaps out for a spare and features an exposed rim for applying extra pressure when fighting fish. The unique drag system consists of three “buttons” of composite material bearing against a stainless-steel disc. The entire spool and frame are ported, bringing the reels in at just under 10 ounces.

For bonefish addicts, the S1 ($325) holds 160 yards of 20-pound backing and a 7-weight fly line; the S2 ($350) holds 160 yards of 30-pound and an 8-weight; the S3 ($375) holds 240 yards of 30-pound backing and a 10-weight line.
