Designers of the new U.S. Reel SuperCaster sought to create a lightweight spinning reel with a large-diameter spool so anglers could fish heavier lines with less arm fatigue. SuperCasters come in two sizes and four models; all include the wide-spool design, the company’s SDS Steady Drag System, Infi-Stop III anti-reverse and 2- to 16-pound-test-mono (6- to 30-pound-braid) line ratings. Spool capacities vary depending on the line size; the 230-size reels carry 302 yards of 8-pound mono, while the 240s carry 384 yards of 8. The reels weigh 8.4 to 10.2 ounces and feature aluminum, composite or carbon-fiber/composite bodies and side plates. Cost ranges from $99.99 to $169.99. Call 314-962-9500 or visit www.usreel.com.
