Sage is renowned among saltwater fly-fishers for making some of the best rods in the business. But the company also makes some very fine reels, and this year they’re offering a new saltwater design that anglers may want to seriously consider for their next purchase.

Sage’s 6000 Series offers a solid, contemporary design constructed around a sealed, multi-graphite disc-drag unit. Offered in three models (6080, 6010 and 6012 for 8-, 10- and 12-weight lines, respectively), the reels repel salt and grit while delivering extremely smooth performance. Lightweight (they range from 7 to 9 ounces), they feature a numbered, one-revolution drag knob for ease of use and consistent, reliable settings.

MSRP ranges from $675 to $775. www.sageflyfish.com
