Distance is the name of the game in salt water, and anglers may get a little help from the new Tropical OutBound fly lines from Rio. This new line is based on the same taper as the OutBound for distance casting, featurs a 38-foot head and is front-loaded and slightly heavier than the AFTMA standard for supreme distance. A hard saltwater coating over RIO’s unique Powerflex core ensures the line will not wilt in extreme tropical heat. The floating/intermediate line has a blue intermediate head with a 9.5-foot clear tip and a tan, floating running line for easy management in the surf. Both lines have a welded loop on the front end for easy rigging. The Tropical Outbound is available in weights 8 through 12 in both floating and floating/intermediate styles. www.rioproducts.com.
