The Super 12W from Abel should be a hit among saltwater anglers using double-handed and spey rods in the surf. The reel features a super-wide large-arbor spool with a diameter of 4.45 inches and a width of 1.375 inches. Weighing in at 10.7 ounces, the Super 12W holds a WF-F 12 and 400 yards of backing or a WF-F 13 with 350 yards of 30-pound. It was designed with a fully-caged frame for increased durability and to prevent ultra-thin running line from finding its way between the frame and spool. Like all of the company’s other saltwater reels, the Super 12W is machined from 6061-T aircraft-quality aluminum and anodized with Abel’s proprietary process.  Standard finishes are high-gloss black coral or non-reflective matte black. Custom fish graphic and artistic anodized finishes are available at additional charges. (www.abelreels.com; $850 reel, $350 extra spool)
