Environmental organizations are opposing efforts by the Recreational Fishing Alliance (RFA) to have Freedom to Fish bills passed in every coastal state. While those bills wouldn’t prohibit Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), such as those that prohibit anglers from fishing in areas around California’s Channel Islands, it would require scientific proof that recreational fishing is causing the problem.
