Cabo Yachts tournament set to catch kids

The young anglers must be fishing aboard a Cabo sportfisher to be eligible.

The sixth annual Cabo Kids Tournament sponsored by Cabo Yachts in Adelanto, CA continues through August 31, 2008, reminds Cabo marketing director Eric Cashion.  The tourney is open to kids between the ages of 5 and 16 and offers big-fish awards for a variety of game species.  Prize categories include: a grand prize, $2500 scholarship plus a rod and reel; first-place, $500 and a rod and reel each for three age classes;  and second-place, a rod and reel for three age classes.
 Age classes are 5-8, 9-13 and 14-16.  The young anglers must be fishing aboard a Cabo sportfisher to be eligible.  All entry forms and photos must be received by September 1, 2008.  Guidelines, details and registration forms are available by phoning 1-760-246-8917 or logging on at
 “Last year, kids caught more than 200 fish [during the event], says Austin Rothbard, Cabo Yachts president.  “Among more than 40 species landed were 35 dolphin, 13 tuna, nine sharks, nine wahoo, three marlin and a sailfish.”
