Grady-White is founded near some of the most treacherous fishing waters in the Atlantic. So the company is committed to making the most durable, safest fishing boats on the planet. The new Freedom 345 dual-console follows that objective. The trademark high bow, sweeping gently to gunwales is more than a style point; it is insurance for safe passage through menacing inlets. A safe boat first, the 345 brings lethal fishing capabilities to pure unadulterated luxury underway.

The ride is gentle thanks to the SeaV2 hull. This trademarked hull design of every Grady smoothes the waves with a crisp stem and sharp deadrise forward that spreads out to 20 degrees at the transom. The effect cleaves seas, sliding through them without rattling hatches or teeth. It’s the flatter deadrise aft which gives Grady the at-rest stability that eases footing aboard when trolling or bottomfishing and makes cruising enjoyable for all.

The 345 is built tough with multiple layers of woven fiberglass that overlap at the keel, further strengthening the build. But before any of that is laid up, the perfectly glossy mold is gelcoated and then protected with a barrier coat that eliminates woven roving print-through and ensures the exterior finish is smooth as a mirror and nearly as reflective. This is the kind of work in which owners take pride for decades.

Also adding to that satisfaction is the craftsmanship, attention to detail and elegance of the Freedom 345’s interior, including the posh upholstery reflecting Grady-White’s classic-white vinyl designs. Richly padded seats, loungers and coaming pads beckon you to relax and enjoy the ride.

The Freedom 345 is available with twin or triple Yamaha outboards to 1,050 hp max. Our test model featured triple Yamaha F350 V-6s. Grady and Yamaha have been tight-knit partners for decades, and as such, each model, the 345 included, is dialed in perfectly from the factory. Equipped with Yamaha’s Full Maneuverability Helm Master joystick, station-keeping while awaiting a slot at the fuel dock is a hands-free affair—just tap the button. Other settings allow the boat to drift a weedline maintaining orientation, or hover over a bottomfishing target with optimized efficiency by allowing the boat to rotate to an orientation most easily held while maintaining position. Yamaha’s Full Maneuverability means full enjoyment of the fishing experience.

Grady’s fishing amenities include well-positioned rod holders on the transom and gunwales, plus under-gunwale storage and hardtop rocket launchers. There are also rod hangers under the hardtop, giving even more on-the-fly storage. Outriggers are optional, but Grady offers them factory installed in a hardtop engineered to handle the stress and make it pelagic-ready. Another important feature to the hardtop is the electrically operated sun shade that slides out to protect the cockpit with no rod-banging upright supports.

The livewell system includes a tank with a vertical plenum that forces water around the curvature of the well, ensuring water is fully aerated to keep bait lively all day. The  design has proven effective for decades.

There’s a summer kitchen with grill, sink and a fridge and three drawers below it to double as tackle storage. One more convertible feature is the transom seat, which folds away quickly and easily to clear the decks when fishing action heats up.

Dual boarding doors offer convenient access to the boat from the dock. Add a dive ladder and platform, and you are ready for spearfishing. And, both doors mean hauling big game aboard is effortlessly accomplished.

Inside the starboard console is a head that includes a teak hatch to hide the toilet and a mother-of-pearl tile backsplash. A second compartment accessed through the port-side console provides a lounge that converts to a double berth at the tap of a button. Recessed lighting present in both compartments, along with the upscale décor, add a comforting, roomy feel. Hand-crafted fluted wood cabinetry reflects Grady’s commitment to quality and style.

The 345 is built to carry a large crew with spacious bow seating, a large L-shaped seating on the bridge deck, and that broad, fold-away transom seat I mentioned earlier. Bow seats include folding arm rests. Coaming compartments boast dual phone charger ports on both sides. Coaming pads complete the inviting wrap-around bow seating.

The standard air conditioning at the helm and the genset keep  you and your crew cool, and the optional Seakeeper gyrostabilizer helps manage the motion of the ocean for sensitive stomachs. Dual captain’s chairs are positioned well and adjust for optimum reach to the wheel,  throttle and other helm controls. To port is that plush L-shaped companion seating I mentioned earlier. It converts to a lounge when lowering the table and inserting a cushion.

Access to the bilge is manageable for changing filters and other service tasks. Yamaha flushing ports inside the boat also ease end-of-day wash-down chores. Extension rods make operating seacock levers located deep in the bilge easy without crawling into the compartment.

The Freedom 345 is designed to fish effectively, offer easy handling, cruise smoothly, and pamper your crew in ultimate comfort, all the while projecting the confident, classic and unmistakable Carolina styling of a Grady-White.
