The new TE 288 from True World Marine offers lots of wide-open fishing room, thanks to a power-train configuration designed to maximize deck space. A center-mounted 300-hp Yanmar turbo diesel linked to the Mercruiser dual-prop sterndrive through an Aquadrive power transfer system provides the push. This particular configuration also leaves the cockpit open and spacious, while the engine cover incorporates a helm-chair rocket launcher that further maximizes use of cockpit space.
The cabin features an enclosed head, dinette and a vee-berth lounge. The hull is hand-laid fiberglass and all deck surfaces feature an aggressive nonskid surface. The sharp entry, reverse chines and wide bow flare combine to provide a dry, soft ride in rough seas and rock-solid stability at rest. Cruising speed is 28 mph at 7 gph, with a top end of 38 mph at 12 mpg. True World Marine, Little Ferry, New Jersey; (877) 451-0010; www.trueworldmarine.com.
