Beat the Slots

02_03_slots.jpg

To measure fish for slot limits, I use a length of bead chain with a bead-chain connector attached at the long and short ends of the particular slot measurement.I daub my connectors with fluorescent paint to make them more visible in low-light situations. When I get a fish, I hold the free end against its nose. If the fish”¿s tail falls between the two connectors, it”¿s legal. No more tape measures or rulers, which can be both cumbersome and difficult to read. The bead-chain fits in my pocket and shows me if the fish hits the slot.
