Hi All, well the fishing got a little off for a few days due to the 4 day blow and rain nor easter we just had. Sea’s were 10 ft outside the mouth of Boston Harbor during the storm. So it takes a few days for things to come back together.
We had a pretty big school of fish outside the harbor the day before the storm, with a lot of Bass, but mostly blues on top. We had 4 young boys, ages 6-10 on board and they hammered the blues, what a fun day we had with these little guys!!!
The fishing before the storm was really good and it is starting to come back together. We have been out the past 2 days scouting and the 1st day after the storm was slow, the water was very dirty and there was a ton of weed in the water which made for tough fishing. We did manage a nice bass around 22 lbs but that was it.
Yesterday was a different story, We headed outside as they were calling for light winds, NOT!!! and it was blowing a good stiff 20 kts. But we were marking fish so we stayed in the area for a while, the tide was also just coming off slack when we got to the spot.
We started trolling live Pogies and not too long after putting lines in we got a nice fat 24 lb Striper. Next pass we doubled with a Striped Bass around 20 lbs and a large bluefish. Made a few more passes in the area and nothing else wanted to play. We moved to a new location and were marking fish but no body wanted to play with our live baits. Moved to a rock pile to do a drift and Bang, Bluefish and big Bluefish at that. These blues are running between 8 and 13 lbs. We drifted the area for quite a while and landed about a dozen big bluefish. These guys pound for pound are some strong choppers. We were marking bass as well but the blues were just too fast for the Stripers and all fish over the rail were blues and then we called it a day.
So all in all it was a great day. The fish are starting to school back up after the blow and the feedbag is just going get better by the day!!!, Over the next few weeks the fall run is going to start, so you better start working those arms out with some weights as you are going to need it for the Harbor this fall. We still have a ton of bait around and that only means one thing. Lots of fish will be chowing down every day till the fish start to head south for the winter. All I can say is Bring it on!!!
We have some great dates open for the fall run as well as now. You just can not beat the fishing here this year. If you are interested in a Shared trip or a private trip, just email me or give us a call, 617-633-6738 and we will get you out there.
