Lisa Lackson to head EPA

Jackson was favorably viewed by recreational fishermen during her DEP tenure

New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Commissioner Lisa Jackson had just moved up to Chief of Staff for Gov. Jon Corzine before being nominated by President Obama to run the federal Environmental Protection Agency.  Jackson is the second woman to occupy that position, with the first also coming from New Jersey – ex-Gov. Christie Whitman. Jackson was favorably viewed by recreational fishermen during her DEP tenure, during which she confirmed Dave Chanda, a respected professional, as Director of the Division of Fish and Wildlife – and approved the sinking of N.Y.C. Transit subway cars on N.J. artificial reefs at no cost to the state.
