Here’s a good way to recycle an old cast net and score a lot of weights to use in the surf, and all you need is a pair of scissors.

I cut the weights off the net and use them to construct slip-weight rigs, using a bead to prevent the weight from slipping over the swivel.

I’ve found that the recycled weights actually roll less in the current ­compared with the standard egg sinkers, keeping your bait in the strike zone longer.
