Anchor Concepts Breakaway Anchor

Here’s another clever new design from HydroBubble, maker of self-righting anchors. The new BreakAway anchor features a special shank that disengages with only 60 to 80 pounds of direct upward pull if the anchor becomes stuck on a rock, cable or other type of underwater obstruction (the anchor shank will not disengage under a normal forward pull). Once the shank is released, it flips over (as shown), allowing the plow-type blades to be pulled backwards to free the anchor. Back onboard, the shank can easily be re-set for normal operation. The BreakAway anchor also features the special HydroBubble design that ensures a proper, upright setting position every time. The BreakAway initially will be available for boats up to 30′ in galvanized-steel ($150) or all-stainless ($250) versions. Anchor Concepts, Zebulon, NC; (888) 282-2535; www.anchorconcepts.com.
