Hydra 3800

Hydra is known for building fast, rugged boats, which has helped make them the choice of many governments in need of high-speed patrol vessels. Hydra boats were also selected to serve as high-speed water taxis by the Panama Canal Commission.

The new 3800 Express Fisherman is hand-laid and built to exacting standards, using high-tech construction materials such as Kevlar, carbon fiber, and the latest epoxy and vinylester resins. The 3800 comes with numerous power options, including straight inboards, triple outboards, and twin diesel sterndrives. With twin inboard 300-hp diesels, the 3800 reaches 43 to 44 knots without a tower, according to Hydra.

The boat is available with several deck and cabin plans, including plush belowdecks accommodations with a deluxe galley made of satin-finished cherry wood. It can be laid out to serve as everything from a simple day boat to a long-range fisherman. Hydra Powerboats, Toms River, NJ; (732) 506-7701; www.hydrapowerboats.com.
