Yamaha has announced that it will broaden its propeller offerings, adding a variety of pitches, diameters and designs to meet the needs of the ever growing application potential for its outboards.
“The capacity of boat builders to bring new models to market along with the shift from two-stoke to four-stroke technology has exceeded Yamaha’s ability to provide the right propeller for every application,” said Phil Dyskow, Yamaha Marine Group President. “We have taken a number of steps to address the issue, including introducing three new propeller lines.”
The three new propeller lines employ both three and four-blade designs. All are constructed of stainless steel and will be available to boat builders and dealers later this year.
The XL4 line of propellers is intended specifically to harness the power of Yamaha’s 5.3L V8 outboards, the Yamaha F350 and F300. These new four-blade propellers offer outstanding acceleration, quick planing, and improved “grip” to help maintain plane at lower speeds and help eliminate ventilation, particularly in turns and following seas. They will be initially offered in 17″ and 19″ pitches and are available in both right and left-hand rotation.
Offering many of the same performance characteristics of the XL4, Yamaha will also introduce the HS4 “High Seas” line of four-blade propellers designed for V6 four-stroke and 200 to 300 hp two-stroke applications. They will be initially offered in 21″, 22″, and 23″ pitches in both right and left-hand rotation.
Finally, Yamaha is launching a line of propellers especially for pontoon boats. Its new Pontoon Performance Series has more blade area and helps provide the thrust and control needed by today’s larger pontoon boats. These propellers feature additional ‘cup’ on the blades to help add grip and eliminate ventilation in turns. They will be available in 9″, 10″, 11″, 12″, and 13″ pitches.
