William Joseph Coastal Pack

The pack specialists at William Joseph work on nothing but building performance and innovation into each pack.

Carrying your gear, whether kayaking or wading, is a persistent problem fly-fishermen face. If you don’t believe it, just take a look at all the available tackle packs. You’ve got packs for everyone from the minimalist to those who want to drag the kitchen sink along. William Joseph Products introduces the Coastal Pack, which may prove just right.

The pack specialists at William Joseph work on nothing but building performance and innovation into each pack. The new Coastal Pack provides two chest-mounted work stations that are big enough to hold even the largest saltwater fly boxes, as well as extra spools or tools, while the sternum strap allows you to choose your carrying options. A pocket in the rear of the pack will accommodate an optional 100-ounce hydration system, lunch and extra clothes, but it’s still sleek enough to stay out of the way. Also on the back are loops for attaching a rod tube or net.

And lest you forget what magazine you’re reading, this pack was designed for saltwater use. The shoulder and back padding use breathable molded foam for comfort, while the pack itself is created from 1600 Dernier ballistic nylon with a waterproof urethane backing. Even the zippers are toothless for superior water resistance. All seams are taped and sealed, and every stress point is reinforced with Arimid thread (one strand can lift 100 pounds) and backed by an unconditional lifetime warranty. The pack is available in both black and silver and weighs just under 2 pounds. Retail price is $109.
