Tie Off to a Push-Pole or Stakeout Pole

This is the best anchor in shallow water

  1. Pass the doubled line behind the pole.
  2. Reach through the loop and pull a loop of standing line through.
  3. Reach through the new loop and pull a loop of the tag end through.
  4. To release, pull the tag end and the line falls away from the pole.

In the shallows, a stakeout pole or push-pole makes the best anchor. This simple hitch holds without slipping yet releases easily with a tug on the tag end.
