Photographer and fishing guide jim levison zoomed in with a 300 mm lens to capture this close-up of some stripers chowing down on a school of bay anchovies off Montauk, New York.

“When the bass begin to blitz, the water starts to froth, and their tails start slapping the water,” Levison said. “You can hardly hear yourself think.” During this blitz, Levison said the bass weren’t about to let a photographer ruin a good meal. “A couple of times I got so close that fish splashed water on my lens.”
