Here’s an inexpensive, flexible ruler for measuring fish.
Use heavy-duty tape to attach the end of a 5-foot cloth seamstress measuring tape to the hub of an empty line spool.
Wrap the ruler around the spool and secure with Velcro tabs at the end.

This setup isn’t as bulky as the standard trifold rulers and takes up less room in your tackle box.
It won’t rust in salt water like some metal measuring tapes and also comes in handy for measuring the girth of a fish.
