I do a lot of surf-casting and use my four-wheel-drive vehicle to ride onto the beach. I have looked around for roof-rack rod holders and could never find one for vehicle roof racks, so I decided to make my own. I went to Home Depot and bought six Cable Cuffs from the electrical department, which look and work like plastic handcuffs. I fastened them to 1 X 2s painted black and secured those to my roof rack with zip ties. Now I have a great rod holder that not only holds my rods securely in place but makes it easy to transport them onto the beach.
