Spill Stopper

spill_stopper.jpg
To prevent any harm from accidental 2-cycle oil spills, I cut an “X” in the center of a oil-absorbent pad with a razor knife. Then I place the “X” over the oil reservoir fill port, so the pad immediately absorbs any drips or spills. Make the “X” the appropriate size for your oil-fill port – each line of my “X” is about 4″ long. When I’m done, I fold the pad and put it away. Unless you spill too much, the pad can be reused and, because it will only absorb oil and gas, it can be stored on the boat without getting wet. Oil-absorbent pads are available at any auto- or marine-supply store. – Alex F. Majewski, Barnegat, New Jersey
