Spec Fever Fishing Report

Neuse River striped bass have started their spawning run up river and we're intercepting them on the way.

Neuse River striped bass have started their spawning run up river and we’re intercepting them on the way.  Plenty of fish to 10 pounds have been taken on this scenic section of the rivers.

For those of you who are into light tackle, hickory shad fishing remains hot on the upper stretches of the Neuse and I’m hearing reports of a few American shad showing up….break out the six weights and enjoy the “poor man’s tarpon”!

Specks are starting to make there spring feeding push into our creeks.  Look for that fishing to get better in April.  The redfish will be a part of the mix very soon.
