The Orvis Company has pledged support for Stripers Forever and will lend the clout of its retail stores to help educate customers on the importance of making the wild striped bass a game fish along the Atlantic coast.
Orvis will display Stripers Forever membership brochures and dispensers in its 12 stores from Boston to Atlanta.
“We no longer market hunt waterfowl,” says Paul Fersen, Orvis retail merchandise manager. “Trout, deer, turkey and all other game species are protected for the public good. There is no reason to allow a small minority of commercial fishermen to decimate Striper populations for profit.”
