SPOT Satellite Messenger expands coverage to Alaska

Coverage includes the Gulf of Alaska.

SPOT LLC, the pioneer behind SPOT Satellite Messenger, has announced coverage expansion to include all of Alaska, the Aleutian Islands and the surrounding maritime regions including the Gulf of Alaska and portions of both the North Pacific and South Arctic Oceans.

SPOT users, such as Alaska residents, tourists, outdoors adventurists, and remote workers in these regions, can now experience the benefit of additional land and off-shore coverage with their SPOT Satellite Messenger.

The SPOT Satellite Messenger is a handheld device that uses the GPS satellite network to acquire your coordinates, and then sends your location – with a link to Google Maps – and a pre-programmed message via a commercial satellite network to potential rescuers (or concerned spouses). Non-emergency assistance is also available through SPOT.
