Fly tiers from around the world due at international symposium

Admission to the event is $15 per day or $25 for both days including all symposium lectures, demonstrations and parking.

SOMERSET, N.J. – Fly tiers from around the world – the men and women who turn feathers and fur into attractive fish-catching tools – are headed to Somerset, NJ, Nov. 19 and 20 for the 21st annual International Fly Tying Symposium.

The symposium will be held at the Double Tree Hotel, adjacent to the Garden State Exhibit Center, according to Chuck Furimsky, event producer/director.

“More than 100 North American tiers and Europe’s best will provide a weekend of tying excitement and education. In addition to all the tiers, there will be more than 50 exhibitors demonstrating and selling tying materials, hooks, vices, books and videos. Retail fly-fishing shops will offer anything and everything to help introduce both novices and seasoned fly tiers to new aspects of the activity,” said Furimsky.

A large contingent of Swedish fly tiers will be on hand, which prompted the symposium theme: “How Swede it Is.” In addition to the Swedish guests, tiers will be on hand from Holland, Belgium, Norway, the U.K., England, Spain, Germany, Finland and Canada.

Hackle growers/producers Collins, Metz and Keough will have an advanced showing of 2012 materials for sale as well as holiday gift selections.

Admission to the event is $15 per day or $25 for both days including all symposium lectures, demonstrations and parking. For a symposium brochure listing all fly tiers, classes, times and schedules, phone 818.443.3638, e-mail info@flyfishingshow.com or visit www.internationalflytyingsymposium.com
