14th Annual Manhattan Cup Kicks Off May 18

Anglers will compete for the largest striped bass, bluefish, and weakfish in three divisions

The Manhattan Cup sponsored by the Staten Island-based Fishermen’s Conservation Association gets underway on Friday, May 18.

The catch and release charity tournament is the FCA’s signature event and the only significant fishing tournament based out of New York City. Theone-day tournament takes place from the Hudson River out into the adjacent Atlantic.

Anglers will compete for the largest striped bass, bluefish, and weakfish in three divisions: bait, artificial and fly-fishing. Trophies will be awarded to the angler and captain for each species, in each division. The largest striped bass overall will be the winner of The FCA Manhattan Cup. The tournament is followed by a dinner and auction. This year the tournament welcomes a new sponsor, Friends of Wounded Warriors.
