As a mostly catch-and-release fisherman, I don’t keep many fish. But it’s nice to know when I’ve caught a keeper, so I measure out the legal lengths for the fish I’m targeting and mark them on my rod with hash marks of light-colored nail polish. I have rods with different-colored hash marks to denote the keeper sizes of different species.
