Marinemax announces outboard tournament series

Entry fees to benefit military charity

DESTIN, Fla. – Grab the rods and kids and catch the fun when the MarineMax Outboard Invitational Series comes to Destin! The new family-friendly, outboard-only fishing tournament will be held on July 2, 2011, with a captain’s meeting and special captain’s dinner on July 1, 2011, at MarineMax Destin. Visit www.marinemaxoutboardseries.com to register and read the official rules and regulations.

Divisions for the Destin tournament will include inshore (redfish, trout) and offshore (wahoo, king mackerel, mahi-mahi, amberjack, snapper), plus a kids’ category within each division for largest fish caught. Prizes will be $750 for first place, $500 for second place and $150 for third place; winners will also receive a plaque, one-year MarineMax Rewards Club membership and other local sponsor giveaways.

The entry fee for the tournament is $150 per boat up to three anglers, with $50 per each additional angler. Kids are free. (This becomes a $200 entry fee if registered on the day of tournament.) All the entry fees will be donated to Fisher House, a unique private-public partnership that supports America’s military personnel in their time of need.

“At MarineMax, we share the same passion for family boating and fishing as our customers – because we’re boaters and fishermen, too,” said William McGill, President and Chief Executive Officer. “The idea for our MarineMax Outboard Invitational Series grew from that passion, and the decision to donate the entry fees to Fisher House came from our desire to recognize our military men and women for the sacrifices they continue to make on our behalf.”
