St. Croix’s Bob Popovics Rod

Made by a surf-fisherman for surf-fishermen, this 9-weight is 10 feet 2 inches long and is made out of the company's high-modulus SCIV graphite as built with St. Croix's Integrated Poly Curve technology.

Surf casters the world over know that the only way to fish effectively is to have a rod that can help you get your line out farther and still be durable enough to withstand high winds and the harsh salty environment. So who better to design a rod that can live up to all that than New Jersey surf fisherman Bob Popovics? A dedicated saltwater angler, guide and writer, Popovics is often referred to as “one of the sand people” since he spends so much time fishing the beaches in his
home state.

In conjunction with the St. Croix Rod Company’s redesign and upgrade of its Legend Ultra series, Popovics lent his years of experience to create his new signature fly rod. Made by a surf-fisherman for surf-fishermen, this 9-weight is 10 feet 2 inches long and is made out of the company’s high-modulus SCIV graphite as built with St. Croix’s Integrated Poly Curve technology. IPC allows the rod’s taper to be formed on one continuous curve from tip to butt, and it eliminates weak spots to allow for smooth casts. The Popovics model also features Advanced Reinforcing Technology (ART?), the company’s proprietary process that strengthens its rods in critical locations without increasing their diameter or weight.

St. Croix’s Bob Popovics signature series rod comes in four pieces and retails for $380. For more information, write to St. Croix at 856 4th Ave. N.; Park Falls, WI 54552; call 800-826-7042; or visit www.stcroixrods.com.
