Wouldn’t it be ideal to have a reel that incorporated the benefits of both direct drive and anti-reverse? Germany-based Henschel Reels has addressed that issue with its new Combination reels.

When an angler is cranking on a big fish, the reel can be operated in an advantageous direct-drive mode. But let go of the crank or move it back from the retrieve direction, and the reel engages in an anti-reverse mode. An angler can essentially switch from anti-reverse to direct drive at any time simply by moving the crank in either direction.

Combination reels are built with Henschel’s Foot Forward design for better balance and are available in two modes, including the Ulti Mode, which is offered in three sizes and features the company’s Super Quick Change spool. www.henschelreels.com
