Badonk-A-Donk

Walk-the-dog-style baits should be in every angler’s artificial arsenal. When done properly, this seductive movement will draw strikes out of hunger and aggravation. Bomber Saltwater Grade did its homework and studied walk-the-dog baits of the past to come up with their own version, which sports several tweaks and has a catchy name – the Badonk-A-Donk. Bomber’s new plug was designed with a fattened, rounded belly that adds to the overall commotion the lure makes when retrieved. The Badonk-A-Donk is highly sensitive, and will walk like a dog with the slightest twitch of the wrist and will practically do so at a standstill, which allows anglers to keep it dancing in strike zones longer. Start Your Engine**

A new generation of Suzuki Marine’s DF60A four-stroke has arrived for 2010 – an in-line, three-cylinder outboard that brings increased performance, durability and efficiency to a wide variety of saltwater boats. Available in a 20-inch-shaft model, this outboard also has a tiller-handle kit option, making it even more versatile. Piggybacking on last year’s 70, 80 and 90 hp models, the DF60A has many advantageous updates, starting with a new dual overhead cam, 12-valve power head with 941 cubic centimeters of displacement. The engine also has a new oil pump that allows oil to flow through the lubrication system with less resistance, allowing for increased fuel efficiency. Suzuki’s testing shows that this model will run approximately 50 percent farther on each liter of fuel at trolling and cruising speeds – and an impressive 30 percent at wide-open throttle. Maintain Stability**

It’s ironic that your engine’s worst enemy can sometimes be the very medium on which it runs. The ethanol in your fuel is a highly corrosive chemical that absorbs water at a rapid rate – bad news for your engine and its fuel system. The good news is that fuel additives, like Sta-Bil’s new Marine Formula Ethanol Treatment and Performance Improver, help combat these issues. This marine formula has twice the amount of corrosion inhibitors and five times the amount of cleaning additives to keep your fuel tank, fuel lines, carburetors, injectors and intake valves corrosion free and squeaky clean. This product stabilizes gasoline, gas/oil mixtures and ethanol blends. It’s available in 8- or 32-ounce bottles featuring Sta-Bil’s measuring spout. Starting at $9.99 and $24.99, respectively; www.goldeagle.com
