Salt Water Kids II
Brielle Bennett, 9
Cinnaminson, New Jersey Brielle had a very good year in 2010, setting six Female Smallfry IGFA world records, including this 15-pound red snapper. She will be honored at the IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame & Museum this spring as the top Female Smallfry angler. “I love fishing with my dad and uncles and seeing all the wildlife,” Brielle said, “but I also love the thrill and excitement of reeling in big fish.” It sounds like she’ll be doing a lot more of that in the near future. Harold Vicente Jr., 10
San Juan, Puerto Rico Harold (left) caught this 39-inch inch tarpon to win the Best Junior Angler award in the 15th annual Cangrejos Yacht Club tarpon tournament. “I got a fish on and pulled and reeled as hard as I could,” Harold said. “It was so big I thought it was bigger than me. We took a photo and released it. I got a trophy, a new fishing rod, a T-shirt and a hat!”

John Rhodes, 5
Staten Island, New York John comes from a long line of fishermen. His dad, Stephen Rhodes III (right), runs the charter boat Legacy out of Staten Island, and his grandfather Stephen Rhodes II was a charter captain as well. John has fishing in his blood and likes sharing the experience with his young friends. He has taken more than 20 other children out fishing with him in the past year, including his cousins from California, and he is a big reason why many kids asked for fishing rods last Christmas.
