Fingertip Control: Plugs can be trolled straight off the rod tip, but a better method involves holding the line between your fingers while awaiting the strike. This lets you feel the action of the plug to make sure it isn’t fouled and to gauge the size of the fish that bites. You can also use this method to set the hook by hand.
