Shortfin makos are athletic gamefish, but fins and meat sales have depleted their numbers.
Researchers quickly place SPOT satellite reporting system in the shark once it’s onboard.
Dr. Guy Harvey fought a couple makos as part of the event.
Jennifer Reeves caught a shark, and it was named “Jen” in her honor.
This tagged shark swims off, destined to send its digital track to satellites above.
