The American Fisheries Society (AFS) presented Ken Hinman, Salt Water Sportsman’s Fishery Management Editor, with the 2002 Carl R. Sullivan Fishery Conservation Award. The oldest and largest professional society representing fisheries scientists, AFS selected Hinman, who serves as president of the National Coalition for Marine Conservation, for the prestigious award because of his “tireless and unwavering commitment to the conservation and restoration of marine fishes,” said AFS executive director Ghassan Rassam.
