We all know Fenwick is famous for making some great rods, but with the introduction of the new Fenwick F-Series of fly reels they take the next step at making equally great reels.
Like most premium fly reels, the new F-Series reels are precision machined from a solid block of aluminum. However, Fenwick hand-forges and shapes the reels and spools to further increase strength and rigidity. These reels also offer improved drag mechanisms, featuring the new Fenwick C2 carbon drag system. This drag system actually utilizes a drag material similar to the braking material used by Formula One racing cars and some fighter jets. This redesigned drag also features a stainless-steel pressure plate and precision bearings.
Fenwick F-Series fly reels are available in seven sizes, though saltwater anglers will be most interested in the F89 and the F912 models and their large-arbor counterparts: F89LA and F912LA. They carry a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $329.95 for the F89 and F89LA and $359.95 for the F912 and F912LA.
