Once you’re on the boat running from place to place looking for fish, storing your fully rigged fly rod in a quick-to-access location is often impossible. Undergunwale storage is great for keeping rods out of the way and safe, but you can’t get the rod loose quickly without risking damage. Conventional rod holders don’t work either because fly-rod butts are too short. That’s why Blue Water Designs developed the Delstang fly-rod holder.
This holder is designed to cradle the fly rod and reel so that it can be stored fully rigged and ready to go just like any conventional rod in a rod holder. In addition, the simple design allows easy mounting to virtually anyplace you can imagine, from cars to float tubes to overhead T-tops. There’s even a special back-to-back T-mount for flush-mounting two fly rods safely alongside the console of your flats boat.
The Delstang holder is available in PVC and stainless steel or anodized aluminum for offshore fly-rodders. All but the stainless version come in an assortment of colors as well and can accommodate virtually any size fly rod.
