Triton lays claim to having one of the cleanest, most organized boatbuilding plants in the country, where it constructs boats of 100 percent composite and fiberglass. You can order your boat in any of 13 custom, premium gelcoat colors and get a full-width, Tri-Core composite transom, Zero-flex foamed stringer system, “Featherlite” finished hatches and a limited lifetime guarantee.
The company’s newest entry is also the biggest cabin boat in its fleet. Built on the same hull as the successful 351 center console, the express affords hard-core anglers the wherewithal to take their families out in comfort. The spacious cabin holds a porcelain head with a sink and shower. The dinette table drops down, performing double duty as the insert for the V-berth. A molded-in galley includes a microwave oven, freshwater sink and 12V/120V refrigerator. And so the kids can have their own space, you’ll find a midship berth with a privacy curtain under the bridge deck.
Triton’s Earl Bentz may have gained his knowledge and notoriety as a member of Mercury’s most famous and successful racing team many years ago, along with Reggie Fountain and Bill Seebold. But his love of fishing has guided his boatbuilding ever since, and that love shows in the 35 Express.
In addition to rod storage in the cabin below, Triton provides horizontal rod racks under each gunwale, two additional rod lockers, a fiberglass hardtop with rocket launchers across the back, and in-gunwale rod holders to both port and starboard. A 25-gallon recirculating livewell in the transom augments the 50-gallon well in the standard-issue leaning post; you’ve got bait all around you! The wells use a 1,100 gph pump, as well as an 800 gph recirculating pump, and every hose gets double clamped. In addition, the washdowns and livewells have high-speed pickups with shut-off valves. The cockpit floor hides a 55-gallon insulated fish box. Bottomfishermen will appreciate the standard windlass with a polished stainless-steel plow anchor, 300 feet of eight-plait anchor line and 15 feet of chain that pulls up against a stainless-steel plate on the bow.
