Q I am contemplating a trip to the Hawaiian Islands this summer. Are there any islands there that have good inshore fishing?

These islands are volcanic in origin, and any such islands usually rise out of the sea with very few flats, where most shallow-water species live. Consequently you’ll find a minimal amount of inshore fishing in Hawaii. Superb fly-fisherman Terry Baird knows the places as well as anyone.
