I was always jamming my rod butt in my stomach, so I got a large, 4″ diameter child’s foam pool noodle and cut off a 10″ long section. At the midpoint of the noodle section, I cut a round hole halfway through that is large enough to fit my rod’s butt cap. Then I glued the rod butt cap into the hole. When I hook a fish, I affix the butt cap and noodle to my rod. Now I can press the soft-foam noodle into my belly and fight the fish without causing painful bruises.
