Thames River Days

Stripers are feeding;

Saturday despite raw conditions we took the 12 mile trip up the Thames river to find no one fishing.
We caught several schoolies on small chartreuse and white jiggies before deciding to try some larger baits to try for herring gulping larger fish.
Large herring flies and soft baits did the trick on fish to 7lbs. the next couple of weeks should bring fish into the 20 to 30lb range into the river as well as a glut of fish on the squid out on the reefs of Watch hill and surrounding area.The time of practice casting in the yard is over, time to catch fish…………..
