What is it that keeps the Salt Water Sportsman National Seminar Series filling major auditoriums going on 27 years? It’s really no great secret, as the answer unfolds on stage each time the tour visits a city: an incredible, information-packed day that features the top names in the saltwater fishing world discussing in great detail their best rigs and tactics and the subtleties they use to catch their favorite game fish – inshore, nearshore, and offshore.

The Salt Water Sportsman National Seminar Series is the nation’s longest running and most popular educational seminar on recreational marine angling. Featuring George Poveromo, SWS’s Editor-At-Large, and Host of “George Poveromo’s World of Saltwater Fishing” on the NBC Sports Network, Poveromo will take the stage at each location, along with teams comprised of SWS editors, nationally-recognized anglers and some of the region’s top guides. Their job: Cover in explicit detail the how-tos and where-tos of catching the most popular game fish within a specific Seminar Series region, along with the latest rigging and fishing techniques. And with the National Seminar Series ready for its 27th year of touring, it’s safe to say the audiences have been getting exactly what they came for.

Stops on the 2014 tour include New Bern (NC); Uncasville (CT); Long Branch (NJ); Annapolis (MD); Islamorada (FL Keys); Pasadena (TX); Columbia (SC) and Ponte Vedra (FL). Touring National Pros include Ric Burnley, Captain Bouncer Smith, Dave Workman, Jr., Jeffrey Liederman, Captain Skipper Gentry, Captain Jimmy Price, Dr. Mitchell Roffer, Harry Vernon III, Captain Jot Owens, and Captain Rick Mola. They will be joined by teams of top local pros and guides.

“I’m always impressed with the knowledge that flows from that stage,” said George Poveromo. “When there’s a team of four experts who specialize in a particular game fish up on stage at the same time, and we get into everything from the specific water conditions, tides, identifying prime habitat/structure, rigs, techniques and the little “tricks” and adjustments that often produce more and even trophy size fish, it’s really astonishing to witness. Add in the fact that each presentation is supported by images and video bytes of specific rigs and techniques, along with action footage of the specific game fish, one can’t help but pick up several tips, regardless of experience level. I guess you can say that’s our trademark.”

EXTRORDINARY VISUAL SUPPORT – To help dispatch this information, there are twin 10′ X 10′ screens flanking the teaching teams on stage. One screen is devoted to visuals and video bytes, while the other is used to showcase close-ups of a faculty member fabricating a certain rig, or pinpointing areas on a chart. Each Seminar Series covers inshore, nearshore and offshore topics – all saltwater, and each presentation is conducted using the team-teaching concept.

BEST DEAL IN TOWN – A ticket costs $ 55.00, and includes six hours of instruction from leading national and local angling authorities, a course textbook, one year subscription or extension to Salt Water Sportsman, one Roffer’s Ocean Fishing Forecasting Analysis, one bottle of OrPine Wash & Wax, one spool of Sufix fishing line, one bottle of Star Tron Fuel Treatment, one bottle of Corrosion Block, $ 20.00 off on any purchase of $ 150 or more from Capt.
