DOA shrimp fished real slow with little or no action will catch anything that feeds on shrimp.

When I 1st started fishing offshore all anybody used was wire. Billfish are not leader shy but it's easier to make baits swim with mono and it's easier to hook a fish.

Our standard rig for whites and sails is 20 feet of 80 jinkai wind on to a small 60# snap swivel and 4 feet of #60 flouro with a circle hook.
For Blue marlin rigs it's 20 feet of 200 Jinkai to a #200 snap swivel and 5 feet of 400# Moi Moi Diamond leader.
