Bottom-bouncing finesse metal jigs, such as Crippled Herring, Kandlefish and Sonic BaitFish, are deadly for flounder, including halibut. Oftentimes, they will outfish natural bait. Don't complicate your presentation...metal jigs are versatile, effective and easy to use.
As a guide in Naples, I had my major success for snook, jigging a 3/4 oz chrome Crippled Herring off the Marco Island bridge and Marco's Five Mile Reef. Very surprising, on most outings, is that jigging these metal jigs outfished live bait. Capt. Pete
See "what's wrong with this picture". My comment was misplaced and should more appropriately been directed to the removal of the Florida Gulf oil rigs article and their irresponsible removal.
Leave it to a bureaucracy to screw-up a good thing for sport fishing and the fisheries resource. Removal of the Florida Gulf oil rig structures is a blatant example of a lack of common sense, good stewardship and competence!
