I always thought it was because someone stuck one in one day to mark the cut, because if you miss it you are getting stuck big-time and it just caught on from there.
Its right behind my house and changes weekly.
Billfish of any kind should not be consumed for any reason, whatsoever. Our oceans are in bad enough shape, as it is and now selling billfish on the commercial scale is just downright stupid. As you may or may not know...commercial fishing brings in very little dollars to locals communities, while sport fishing brings in billions a year. Go figure. And tuna...well that's a different story...I will not buy any commercial tuna, whether canned, fresh or in sushi. If I eat fish, I catch it. Jump on the bandwagon.
Mark Coleman owner of All Rivers and Saltwater Charters based in Seattle , is one of the best saltwater fishing guides out there. He is a great teacher and always gets me on fish. He will try every he knows to make sure you catch fish and have an enjoyable experience fishing with him. If you are ever in Washington look him up and prepare for one of the best fishing experiences of your life (look into his express albacore tuna trips).
