Here’s a simple trick to separate a two-piece rod. First, clean all the oils from the rod with window cleaner. Next take a piece of sheet rubber, and wrap it tightly around the upper section of the rod once. Put a pencil on top of the first wrap, and wrap the rubber once or twice around the pencil. Now simply twist, as the pencil under the rubber provides the extra grip needed to pull the two rod pieces apart. After you win this game, lubricate the ferrule with silicone or graphite for easier separation the next time around.
