Reader Tips: Hook Hanger for Your Rod

Take a small stainless-steel split ring and attach it with a zip tie to your rod butt.

Many fishing-rod makers often seem to leave out an inexpensive, simple, but useful component: a place to stick your hook when transporting or storing your rigged outfit. Rather than having to impale your cork or rubber grip with the hook, or put undo stress on a rod guide, try this simple and cheap solution. Take a small stainless-steel split ring and attach it with a zip tie to your rod butt. Choice of placement is almost infinite — you can attach it wherever it suits you the best. Now you will always have a convenient place to hang your hook.
