Reader Tips: Clean Swipe

I tried it out and was pleasantly surprised to find that it easily removed all the scuffs.

Even if you have a strict rule allowing only nonmarking shoes on your boat, it's going to happen eventually: Someone will step aboard and leave an unsightly scuff. I've tried all kinds of boat soaps, cleaners and waxes to get rid of black scuff marks on my boat's console, gunwale, ice chests and deck. Just out of curiosity one night, I asked my wife if she knew of anything I could try that might remove them. She suggested a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser wipe. At first I was skeptical, but she said it worked great on the doors and baseboards in the house, and I figured it was worth a shot. I tried it out and was pleasantly surprised to find that it easily removed all the scuffs. These wipes work great on all fiberglass and plastic surfaces to remove scuffs and even minor surface stains.
